German Wikipedia, viewed December 24, 2014 (Georg Decker (Drucker); born 23 April 1596 in Eisfeld, Kurfürstentum Sachsen; [died] 1661 in Basel, Alte Eidgenossenschaft; son of Kilian Decker and Anna Göring. Learned printing in Bamberg or Hildburghausen; Was recorded as an apprentice in Tübingen in 1624; moved to Basel in 1635 and became a resident; became university printer and founded the University of Basel's printing press "Academiae Typographus" in 1635. Was a friend of Johann Buxtorf (1599-1664) who had him print his books and his father's books. Specialized in German, Hebrew, Latin and Greek types. Founder of a later dynasty of printers.)
