Biography/History note | Dr. George Amede Jervis (b. Aug. 15, 1903, Italy-d. June 5, 1986, Stony Point, New York) was Director of the Institute for Basic Research of the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. He was formerly the Director of Research of the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation in Washington from 1962 until 1971. He was born in Italy of English parents and received a medical degree from the Royal University of Milan in 1927, and a doctorate in Psychology there in 1932. After coming to the United States in 1934, he worked at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. |
