Wikipedia, search 6 January 2015 (Waldemar Verner; born August 27, 1914 in Chemnitz, Germany, died February 15, 1982; chief of the People's Navy (Volksmarine) of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic. He became a member of the Communist Party Germany (KPD) in 1930. He was arrested and imprisoned by the Nazis after being accused of illegal activities in the KPD and went into exile in the Soviet Union. He returned to Germany at the end of 1945. He became a naval officer in 1950 and on March 1, 1961, he became the first officer to the People's Navy to be promoted to Admiral)
