Biography/History noteMichael G. Waltz is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Special Forces (reserve component) who served in Afghanistan. He is president of Metis Solutions and a senior national security fellow at the New America Foundation. He has served as advisor to Vice President Richard L. Cheney and as director of Afghanistan policy at the Office of the Secretary of Defense-Policy.
