Biography/History noteCharles Arthur Anderson, Representative from Missouri, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 26, 1899. He graduated from St. Charles Military Academy in 1916 and from the law school of St. Louis University, LL.B., 1924. During the First World War served in the One Hundred and Twenty-eighth Field Artillery, Thirty-fifth Division, from April 1, 1917, to July 2, 1919. He was admitted to the bar in 1924 and commenced practice in St. Louis, Missouri, and served as the prosecuting attorney of St. Louis County from 1933 to 1937. He won election as a Democrat to the Seventy-fifth and to the Seventy-sixth Congresses, serving from January 3, 1937 to January 3, 1941. He was chairman of the Democratic State convention at St. Louis in 1940 then resumed the practice of law in St. Louis, Missouri, where he died on April 26, 1977.
