The Encyclopedists as individuals, 1988: p. 360-361 (Tarin, Pierre, 1721-1793?); main contributor on anatomy and physiology to the Encyclopédie; born in Courtenay, France, where he may have received his doctoral degree, though this is doubtful; his publications are all from 1748 to the early 1750s, and conclude with his articles for the Encyclopédie at the same time; authorities such as Michaud, Biograpie universelle ancienne et moderne, and Larousse, Grand dictionnaire universel, agree on a death date of 1761, but records in the town hall of Courtenay include a death certificate dated 18 Sept. 1793 for a Pierre Tarin, "docteur en médecine, ancien démonstrateur d'anatomie de Paris")
