Russkīĭ bīograficheskīĭ slovarʹ, viewed online 22 December 2021: (Демидовъ, Акинфій Никитичъ = Demidovʺ, Akinfīĭ Nikitichʺ, mining entrepreneur, Russian state councillor, born in Tula in 1678, died 5 August 1745 on the Kama River on the way from Petersburg to Siberia, buried in Tula. As a young man, having learned the mining industry from his father, traveled to Western Europe to observe mining enterprises there; in Freiburg found a rich collection of minerals which he brought back with him to Siberia, adding Siberian minerals to the collection and donating it to Moscow University; founder of dozens of iron, copper, lead, malachite mines and factories throughout Siberia, amassed great wealth and came to the attention of both Peter the Great and Empress Elizabeth Petrovna)
