Globe and mail, 2 February 1965 (John Richardson Dymond, 77, died Sunday [31 January] in Toronto General Hospital; Mr. Dymond; emertius professor of zoology at the University of Toronto; professor of systematic zoology and head of the department from 1946 to 1956; made an officer of the Order of the British Empire for his service as vice-chairman of the Fisheries Review Board of Canada from 1947 to 1953; from 1934 to 1949, director of the Royal Ontario Museum of Zoology; president of the Toronto Field Naturalists Club from 1929-1931, president of the Royal Canadian Institute from 1939 to 1940 and from 1956 to 1957, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada)
The Canadian field-naturalist, Oct.-Dec. 1965: pages 219-224 (John Richardson Dymond, October 4, 1887-January 31, 1965; one of Canada's best known zoologists; born and raised on a farm in Metcalfe Township, Middlesex County, Ontario; graduated from Strathroy Collegiate in 1906; attended Model School in Strathroy in 1906 and taught public school in 1907-1908; entered Victoria College, University of Toronto, in 1908, graduating with a B.A. in 1912; worked as a seed analyst with the Department of Agriculture; in 1920, returned to U. of T., earning an M.A. the same year and becoming a lecturer in systematic zoology at the Department of Biology; joined the Royal Ontario Museum of Zoology as secretary in 1922, becoming assistant director in 1931 and director in 1934, retiring in 1949; retired from U. of T. in 1956; in 1938, made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and in 1946, received an O.B.E.; died suddenly in Toronto)
