Found inJewish Virtual Library, 1 March 2017 (EPPSTEIN, PAUL (1901-1944), sociologist and German-Jewish community leader, "elder" of Theresienstadt; Eppstein, born in Mannheim, was lecturer in sociology at the university there from 1926 until 1933; he was one of the founders of the Reichsausschus der juedischen Jugend-Verbaende (National Board of Jewish Youth Organizations) and of the Reichsvertretung der deutschen Juden; deported to Theresienstadt in January 1943 and was nominated "Judenaeltester" ("Jewish Elder"); on September 27, 1944, he was arrested and immediately shot)
