Biography/History noteThe Washington post was first published on December 6, 1877, in Washington, D.C. In March 1954, it merged with the Times-herald, also of Washington, D.C., to become The Washington post and times-herald (with "and" being dropped from the name in August 1959). On January 1, 1974, the newspaper returned to its original title, The Washington post, and continues to publish under the name.
