Biography/History note | Heinrich Schlick (approximately 1400-approximately 1448) was "elected" Bishop of Freising in 1443 through the intercession of his influential brother, Kaspar Schlick, then Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, with Pope Eugene. However, this election was never recognized by the cathedral chapter, which elected another candidate, Johannes III Gruenwalder (with the support of the Council of Basel). After years of controversy, Heinrich Schlick resigned in 1448. |
