Dennis Halft, "Paolo Piromalli," in Christian Muslim Relations, 2017: vol. 10, p. 582-583 (Paulo Piromalli; Paulus Piromallus; Pūlūs Pīrmāl; born 1591 in Siderno in Calabria, Italy; died 1667 in Bisignano, Italy; joined Dominicans ca. 1610, and spent 2 decades in Soriano Calabro, Naples, Rome; in 1631 he was sent as a missionary by the Propaganda Fide to Persia and Armenia; apostolic envoy to the shah (1644-1647); expelled from Armenia in 1647, and lived in Isfahan; back to Rome, then in 1655, became Archbishop of Armenian Catholic diocese of Nakhichevan; transferred in 1664 to diocese of Bisignano; wrote vindications of Catholicism in Armenian and Latin and Persian treatises, including "Risāla dar bayān-i iʻtiqādāt va maz̲hab-i kalimat Allāh-i ʻīsavī")
