Michele, da Cesena (approximately 1270-1342) was Franciscan minister general from 1316 to 1328. His advocacy for strict poverty caused a conflict with Pope John XXII, who summoned him to Avignon and imprisoned him, then excommunicated him in 1328. He fled to Pisa and then Munich.
