(Lacombe, Jacques (1724-1811); born 1724, son of a Parisian grocer, died 1811-07-16, Paris; trained in law, lawyer in the Parlement de Paris; art critic and man of letters; author of numerous articles and lyric works; compiler and editor of several dictionaries; admitted as bookseller in November 1765; specialized in publication of periodicals, including the Mercure and the Gazette des Deux-Ponts (Zweibrücken, Germany); declared bankruptcy, May, 1778 and afterwards worked mainly as editor for the Encyclopédie méthodique of Panckoucke; addresses in Paris, 1765-1788?: Quai de Conti; Rue Christine (, près la rue Dauphine ; au bureau des journaux); Rue de Tournon (, près le Luxembourg); À l'Arsenal; Rue de Bourbon-Villeneuve)
