He was born 24 August 1905 in Forest, Mississippi, United States; recorded for RCA Victor Bluebird subsidiary, notorious for classic blues Death Valley Blues, If I Get Lucky, and Black Pony Blues, and Mean Old 'Frisco Blues (1941-1942); one of few blues artists part of the U.S. Armed Forces Radio Services transcription series; formed trio with Ransom Knowling and Judge Riley; assembled one of the most formidable blues trios ever with Sonny Boy Williamson No.2 and Elmore James (1948). He died 28 March 1974 in Nassawadox, Virginia, United States)
