BRUUN the sciences of marine biology and oceanography have lost one of their most ardent devotees; born on 14. December 1901 at Jelling, north-west of Vejle in the southern part of Jutland. He studied at the University of Copenhagen and in 1927 graduated with a Ph.D. degree; In 1938 he became assistant curator at the Zoology Museum of the University of Copenhagen and in 1957 Senior Lecturer in oceanography there, where he worked until his death)
