Dictionary of African Biography, accessed March 5, 2015, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Oduho, Joseph; government official (foreign), politician, teacher; born 15 December 1929 in Lobira, Sudan; attended various Catholic missionary schools; became a teacher; was elected as an independent to Sudan's first Parliament (1957); fled after the military overthrow (1958); while in exile in Uganda formed a movement “the Sudan African National Union” (SANU); produced the first manifesto on Southern political liberation (1962); participated in the Azania Liberation Front (1965-1967); supported the armed movement known as Anyanya; broke with the movement (1971); after President Nimeiri signed the Addis Ababa Agreement (1972) accepted to work as a minister with the new transitional regional government in Juba; when the agreement dissolved he went again in exile (1983); supported the foundation of the SPLA/M; was detained and went into exile in Uganda and Kenya where he joined leaders who opposed SPLA; died 27 March 1993 in Sudan)
