The New York Times, Lute Olson, who put Arizona on college basketball map, dies at 85, August 28, 2020, viewed online August 31, 2020 (Robert Luther Olson, born on a farm outside Mayville, N.D., on Sept. 22, 1934; played basketball, football and baseball at Augsburg College in Minnesota; after coaching high school basketball, he was coach at Long Beach City College, Long Beach State, and University of Iowa (9 seasons); named University of Arizona's coach for the 1983-84 season, turned the Wildcats into a collegiate power, winning 1997 N.C.A.A. championship and 23 consecutive appearances in the postseason tournament; won 11 Pac-10 championships; inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (Springfield, Mass.) in 2002; took a leave of absence for 2006-07 season, then retired for health reasons; died Thursday [August 27] in Tucson)
