Wikipedia, February 23, 2022 (François Gaussen; François Samuel Robert Louis Gaussen (25 August 1790 - 18 June 1863) was a Swiss Protestant divine; he was was born in Geneva, the son of Georg Markus Gaussen; at the close of his university career at Geneva, Louis was in 1816 appointed pastor of the Swiss Reformed Church at Satigny near Geneva; in 1819, Gaussen published a French translation of the Second Helvetic Confession; in 1839, he published a first volume entitled The Prophet Daniel Explained in a series of readings for young persons, with the second following in 1848; his best-known work is La Théopneustie, ou pleine inspiration des saintes écritures, was published in Paris in 1840, this was followed in 1860 by Le Canon des saintes écritures au double point de vue de la science et de la foi; he died at Les Grottes, Geneva)
