"Jacob" is the etymological ancestor of "Jacques" and it would seem that his eventual use of the name "Jacques" was a matter of convenience after settling in Brussels (located in the French-speaking part of Belgium; 6 born in Hörstgen, Prussia on February 27, 1815; Alvin's Nécrologie cites the date March 2, 1815, however Jacob Wiener's birth certificate gives the date of birth as February 27; died in Brussels on November 3, 1899, at the age of 84)
