Wikipedia, November 9, 2015 (Philip Pandely Argenti; Philip Pandely Argenti was a Greek diplomat and lawyer, genealogist and historian of Chios; born May 1, 1891 in Marseille; died April 14, 1974 in London; his great-grandfather, Leonidas Argenti (1743-1822), was hanged during the 1822 massacre of Chios; during the Turkish massacre, the family left the country and settled in Western Europe (mainly in London); Argenti received his legal education in England at Winchester College (Cook's House from 1906 to 1910) and Christ Church College in Oxford (1910-1912) and at the University of Athens; his first professional work was in 1922 as a lawyer before the higher courts (Barrister-at-law) in Athens; in 1923 he entered the Greek diplomatic service; during the First World War, he served in the third Greek cavalry regiment and participated in the Asia Minor campaign; in his later years he was a cultural ambassador of the Royal Greek Embassy in London; he published a number of monographs and source editions on the history of Chios)
