Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 267-268 ("Archibald Dixon" political leader, born near Redhouse, Caswell County, NC on April 2, 1802. In 1804 the family moved to Henderson County, Ky. Admitted to the bar in 1824, elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1830 to 1833 and from 1841 to 1843. Served in the state senate 1836 to 1840. Elected as liutenant governor of Kentucky 1844-1848, then ran unsuccessfully for governor of Kentucky. Filled a vacancy in the U. S. Senate September 1, 1852 until March 3, 1855. Returned to Henderson County where he resumed his law practice; later moved to Paducah. Died April 23, 1876 in Henderson County.)
