Graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1832. Served as a commander in the Mexican War (1846-1848) and served in the army until 1861 at which point he resigned to serve as a brigadier general and later a major general in the Confederate Army. Served as Kentucky state librarian from 1867 to 1874. Died in Danville, Ky. on November 27, 1880. |
