Served as a U.S. representative March 4, 1819 to June 1, 1828 as a National Republican. Elected governor of Kentucky, serving from August 26, 1828 to September 4, 1832. Then served as a state senator from 1834 to 1838 and a U.S. senator from June 23, 1848 to March 3, 1849. Returned to his Nicholas County farm where he died on August 18, 1885) |
