Wikipedia, Dec. 3, 2020 (Ellen Emmet Rand (née Ellen Gertrude Emmet; March 4, 1875-December 18, 1941); painter and illustrator, specialized in portraits; studied with Dennis Miller Bunker and attended the Cowles Art School in Boston and then from 1889-93 registered for classes at the Art Students League of New York; attended William Merritt Chase's Shinnecock Hills Summer School of Art; traveled to England in 1896, returned to U.S. in 1898; then studied with Frederick William MacMonnies in Paris; primary studio was in New York City but also worked in Salisbury, Connecticut; died in New York, New York)
