Wikipedia, Jan. 26, 2011 (Eris is classified as a plutoid; a trans-Neptunian object that is also a dwarf planet. Named after the Greek goddess Eris, the name was assigned on Sept. 13, 2006, following a period in which it was known by the provisional designation 2003 UB313. Xena was an informal name used internally by the discovery team.)
